Valentine's Day Doggy Strawberries

ABOUT THIS RECIPE

A pawfect little treat for your furry BFF.  Strawberries are a good source of fiber and vitamin C for dogs, so we decided to make these ones extra special for this love day.  We dipped them in greek yogurt for natural probiotics,  some tasty all natural shredded coconut for its healthy oils, a dip in some melted CAROB chips!  NOT chocolate - chocolate is toxic to dogs.  Carob is a fruit from the carob tree that is dried and is used as a vegan alternative to chocolate for the similar appearance and “kind of” similar flavor.

Last but not least we sprinkled a tiny dash of Merci Collectives Cat Nip, which is also great for dogs. An all natural herbal supplement that helps calm and ease anxiety, helps with digestion and also headaches!

○ COOKING TIME: 20 mins
○ SERVING: 4 Strawberries

INGREDIENTS

[4] strawberries, stalks discarded (slice into halves or quarters for smaller dogs)
[2 tbsp] of plain greek yoghurt
[2 tbsp] melted all natural carob chips
Sprinkle of Merci Collective Cat / Dog Nip
[2 tbsp] plain shredded coconut

Please note that all treats are to be given in moderation to your dog, strawberries have natural sugars so too many aren’t good for their teeth, plus they have a lot of fiber so you don’t want to over do that. For a large dog 1 or 2 in a day would be plenty, for a small dog cut the strawberry cup into quarters and only give a small piece in one day.

Note - melting carob chips takes a bit more time, and is best done with a double boiler, heat proof bowl on top of a pan of simmering water.  Add the chips to the bowl. They will take a while to warm up, but once soft, use a wooden spoon and they will mush together, and you can add a tsp of coconut oil to help make it into a smoother, runnier paste.
